Penelope’s 6 mos.
Working with repeat clients really exercises my creativity because my goal is to give them something fresh and unique. My all-time favorite repeat client is my older sister (I refuse to call her my big sister considering we are only 17 mos. apart) and her growing family. I’m biased and not afraid to say it! I will also freely admit that one reason I particularly love photographing my older sister is because I get to boss HER around for once! Shh, don’t tell her I said that. But don’t worry, she’s the only client I get bossy with.
This shoot was a twofer because we were celebrating Lauren and Ryan’s 7th wedding anniversary and documenting how cute Penelope was at 6 mos. It was a perfect November day. There was a cool breeze and warm sunshine, thank you Florida! The sun was still pretty high in the sky which, as a photographer, would have made me nervous not all that long ago. I have grown to love shooting with a high sun. We ran around Grayton Beach State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, FL and then moved a few minutes down the road to Seaside. Everyone in Seaside had to stop and comment on how stinking cute Penelope was!
We actually started shooting a few days earlier at my parent’s home. Lauren wanted milk bath photos and our mom has the most beautiful farmhouse sink. So there we were, pouring whole milk into the warm water we’d filled the sink with, and adding as many cut flowers as we could. As you can imagine, those flowers looked mighty delicious in the curious eyes of a 6 mo. old baby… After wrestling flowers from her mouth and fingers we decided it was time for a real bath and a nice warm towel to snuggle in.
